Orquesta Nueva

After only 25 days of instruction, the Orquesta Nueva holds their first concert! An informance is when we, not only perform for our audience, but we also take time to “inform” them on the learning and playing process. This helps our families know just how much we’ve accomplished in such a short time!

Combined Orchestras

As an addition to our regular school year program, ESO offered the opportunity for our children and anyone in the community who would like to join us to play in our Summer Evening Orchestra.  The orchestra met every Monday night in June and these rehearsals culminated in  a performance on July 1 at the Trinity Baptist Church Block Party.

Mass Orchestra

Watch the more than 200 El Sistema Oklahoma musicians close the season by performing Star Wars!  It was “May the 4th” after all!  Be sure to watch all the way to the end to see a special guest!

Recognition Ceremony May 4, 2016

The children of El Sistema Oklahoma worked for more than 140 days to achieve all their personal and musical success this year.  We honor that achievement by calling each child’s name and presenting them with a medal.  Bringing honor and recognition to our children and families is a fundamental value of El Sistema Oklahoma. We are so very proud of all they have accomplished this year.

Orquesta Esperanza at the OMEA Fall Conference October 15, 2015

The Orquesta Esperanza opened the Oklahoma Music Educators Association Fall Conference on October 15, 2015.  This is the first performance of this orchestra and the concert featured the premiere of a new work by OCU composition student, Sean Erwin.  This concert also featured the premiere of an aleatoric work written by six El Sistema Oklahoma students called Kansas.  And, as if that wasn’t enough excitement, check out the video about 18:10 to see how the orchestra persevered through a technical glitch with the stage lights without even missing a beat!

Orquesta Nueva Informance October 9, 2015

 After only five weeks of instruction, the Orquesta Nueva held its premiere on Friday, October 9th at the Wanda L. Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University.

Orquesta Esperanza and Orquesta Alegría 

For our first performance of the 2015-2016 school year, the combined orchestras opened the Oklahoma City Jazz Festival on the lawn in front of the Civic Center Music Hall.  This mass orchestra had more than 140 members.  These children are starting their second or third year at El Sistema Oklahoma.

After 20 months of instruction, the Orquesta Alegría performs an outstanding concert as their final showcase for the 2014-2015 school year. In addition to the orchestra, you will also see small chamber ensembles perform. These students are from the Orquesta Nueva and have been playing for 8 months.
