Fundamentals

Fundamentals provide supplemental music foundations so that all students understand music on a deeper, more meaningful level.

Student participants in El Sistema's Orchestral Program attend Fundamentals, which provides the additional musical knowledge and supplemental material needed to gain a deeper understanding of musical foundations. Fundamentals classes are age-focused and provide the basics for a well-rounded musical experience. Fundamentals activities include solfege & ear training, Orff instrument performance, music theory & analysis, and creative projects. Fundamentals instruction also integrates Social-Emotional Learning standards to provide more support for teaching the whole child.
